Adjust blurred text on GS monitor

I saw a  post on here a few months ago in regards to an adjustment for a GS monitor to fix blurred text.  The post said there was an adjustment, but you had to take off the cover to get at it. They also mentioned they had to adjust every once in awhile.  Anyone know about this and where I could find the adjustment setting?  Thanks.Walt

The focus adjustment is

The focus adjustment is typically on the flyback of a CRT but you must be very careful adjusting it if its not something you are used to doing.

My IIgs monitor gets blurry if it's been on too long but the tube is very old. I already recapped it, so it's on its last legs. Adjusting focus is tricky, make sure the monitor has been running a while before you do it. Else you can dial it in cold and it will go all blurry once it gets to normal temp.

blurred text may not be from

blurred text may not be from the focus anode. It may simply be a smeared signal caused by limited video bandwidth, from drifted components in the signal path. In general the focus voltage does not require adjustment after the CRT is initially set up, although it is sometimes affected by failing power supply circuits, which would be the first thing to check instead of frobbing the focus.

Oh, not to forget something

Oh, not to forget something else: since this is a color display, the quickest way to blur everything is for the convergence to be misadjusted. Unlike the focus, it's relatively common for convergence to require adjustment. Some displays have very complicated dynamic/digital convergence circuits, but I think this one is fairly simple vertical and horizontal convergence pots. It's fine to frob the convergence controls to see if it helps. since they are quick to dial in during the normal calibration procedure.
