I have recently learned to use Google Translate (http://translate.google.com) to have very effective conversations with people who do not share a common language. Using very plain language, avoiding all idiomatic speech and phrases that can have more than one meaning, it is possible to convey ideas very well. I would suggest explaining your situation very clearly and completely in your native language, run it through Google Translate, and post the results here.
who can assist me??
I bought a rs232 to usb converter yesterday for experiment adt pro. I read user's guide over and over again. finally. I failed. I post some pictures. can you check it and tell me what's wrong?
original use pc modem to macintosh geoport. this time I use it too. but I require add some cords. I am sure if it is correct?
I install driver and reboot. so I use it. I want to know if driver or this converter's problem.
I feel the strange, why do I need to choice(apple IIc w/imagewriter cable)then I can transfer to apple II? if I don't choice it. no any reaction on my apple II gs, why???
last screen I have done with transfer. but it indicate I use slot:8 and no any reaction?? so I am so confuse it and I don't know what wrong with it. someone told me converter,so I want to ask everyone. how to transfer it. adt version?? or converter or method thx.
out of order
Your cables are very complex. There are four cables connected together. The wiring may not be correct.
Try the bootstrapping twice. First, try checking the "Apple IIc w/Imagewriter II Cable" box. Second, try it without checking the box. Does it make a difference?
if I don't choice it I can't transfer it. I will change transfer cord. do I notice any adt config???
Your ADTPro config is fine. The cable is the problem.
hello, I have solved this problem.I guess everyone wants this answer. I posted applefritter website. someone told me connect cords reason(assume). so I asked my cyber friend in the facebook. he posted apple II c and db8 to rs232(9pin) pinout schematic. I bought it today. I solder db8 and AT(a2 c) to serial 9pin converter cords. use apple II gs. it is the same screen. but when I used apple II c. the miracle happen to me. this program can transfer to my apple II completely. I find dir and adjust to my mac folder .dsk. I can extract it to the disk. I can play game with it. I am so glad. the answer is........I must use apple II c. it can work. other computer can't work. thanks everyone assist me. especially jm, he provides me pinout. it let me learn a lot. thx for everyone.
Okay, so I broke down and bought the three cable connections I need to run ADT Pro:
Should get the cables in either late this week or early next week. My // Plus came with ADT Pro already on a 3.5 FD, so should be able to burn new 3.5 disks. If anyone here has experience burning new disks on a // Plus, let me know how well the program worked.
This cable won't help you - you need a null modem, crossing the transmit and receive lines. I have pinouts of what that cable looks like here:
ADTPro MiniDIN 8
I use it quite a bit. It works great. One thing to consider, though - you can't put the typical 140k disk images on an 800k disk and expect them to boot (or work). Although ProDOS disks may actually work to a certain extent, 140k games almost certainly won't.
Well, that's money wasted then. If you mean I have to build such a cable, then that's a no-go. I've less than zero experience in constructing such things.
Edit: Just noticed that your page has a link to where folks can purchase cables.
Based my ebay purchases on this:
Note: Noticed that your images seem to call for a five pin DIN cable on a //c. On the //c Plus, the inputs are eight pin DIN connections. Might that make a difference?
Yes. People have been trying in vain to patch together cables for years... I got tired of telling them their problem was their cable, and started offering them myself. If you're a tinkerer, then by all means - I give away the plans. If you're not - then, well, time is money, as they say.
That makes all the difference in the world, of course... the 5-pin and 8-pin cables are mechanically as well as electrically different.
Yeah, connecting a modern machine to my //c Plus won't be walk in the park.
It's a shame that Mac ADT is so limited, since I can and do successfully connect my Macintosh Classic II to my Apple //c Plus. Once I've got the Mac ADT sent though to the //c Plus though, then have no clue where to go from there - nor can I seem to find anything online to help.
Oh yeah, that would be an issue, now that I think that through. MacADT is DOS-only, so unless you plugged a 140k drive into your IIc+... it won't really do you much good. Oh well, that's what ADTPro is for.
Just so happens that my //c Plus has an external disk II 5 1/4 FDD, so perhaps I could get it to work.
Do have cabling coming in for ADT Pro though, so look forward to messing around with that. Fellow that sold me the system shipped it with ADT Pro on a 3.5 floppy, so it's a shame he didn't also send the cable interface.
hahaha, I don't consider this comment will discuss wire. actually, this program mode that similar early bbs telnet method to transfer into apple II machine. once a upon time, I experimented it over and over again. but I failed. I remember my first time used dsk2files. I was not successful and I don't know the reason why. but I can extract .shk. it is more easier than ADT. actually, I want to extract .dsk, because I afraid to disk damage. but I owe a pc(program) and interface(some machine needs serial port) reason and busy working.if use converter(usb to rs232) I can't certain if can work with my mac. so I feel so bother.after many years. I find ADT website. It arouse my interest again. finally, I have done. so I appreciate everyone assist, I know one of them is author. although I can use it but many functions I need to learn it well. thx a lot.
When it comes down to it... ADTPro problems are almost always about the wire. I have my share of bugs, sure. But if it suddenly isn't working for someone, the first, second, and third thing to check is the wire.
