Apple II+ keybaord to USB

Happy New Year all:

Got a project on the horizon and I can't seem to hit the right search terms.

I have an Apple II+ I plan to empty of all parts (I'll post here for any interested party once the project is done).

The goal is to put an Apple II+ Raspberry Pi emulator in the case.  I want to use the original keyboard with the RasPi.

What is driving me nuts is I could swear I came across a website where someone did just this.  I know there are posts and videos of people doing this to Commodore 64s.

Questions:

1)  Has anyone else seen a project like this?

2)  Is anyone aware of an Apple II+ keyboard to USB converter (complete or plans).  I have seen converters for sale to change Commodore 64s and TI-99/4As to into USB keyboards.

I am trying to do the oppostie of Mike Willegal's project here

Any input is most welcome.  I am sure there is stuff out there and I am just not Googling well.

Mark

The GPIO on the sbc should be

The GPIO on the sbc should be fine for interfacing the keyboard (remember to use 1k series resistors to limit power in the clamp diodes when connecting to 5V signals).

Closest thing I can find for

Closest thing I can find for a II keyboard to USB is this:

https://web.archive.org/web/20150220160147/http://afiler.com/apple-ii-plus-as-a-usb-keyboard/

Which uses an arduino to do the conversion.

That won't work.  That project is for a IIe keyboard which is a different animal than a II+.

Apple II USB keyboard adapter

I bought an Apple II keyboard USB adapter from a person I met on FB. It only works for 2e and  2c.
