Book scans

I've scanned several Apple II books recently with more to come. Is there a good place to contribute/share these? Asimov?

I'm sure some - maybe all - have already been scanned by somebody else, but I'm not sure where to look.

The current batch is:

Apple II in the Laboratory
Apple II User's Guide 3rd Edition
The Apple IIgs Book
Apple II/IIe/IIc Expansion Guide
Apple Machine Language for Beginners
BASIC Subroutines for the Apple II/IIe
How to Repair and Maintain Your Apple II
The Apple II Basic Handbook
The Apple User's Encyclopedia

Hello billw,
i guess the rather better choice will be:
http://mirrors.apple2.org.za/Apple%20II%20Documentation%20Project/
it´s the site with the best sorting and completest collection of books and manuals....
for information read the read.me file in the root-dir.

*Both* would be better - duplication is the best assurance against a server going off the air.

Re: Book scans

I have an apple FTP server up that I offered to keep up as the official AppleFritter FTP, but only a handful of people, not including administrators, were interested. If you will send me a PM, I will give you the info if you want to upload them, and you will have it if you ever want to download anything.

Re: Book scans

For now, I am uploading them to asimov (a2books.tar.gz in incoming). Even gzipped, it is 900MB of books and my upload speed isn't that great.

But, I agree that more is better, so I'll get in touch with the other suggested sites as well.

If you do things based solely on other people's reported interest, then you will do almost nothing.

900MB ??? that might be more than asimov can swallow in one bunch.......
up to my experience asimov gets flatened with more than 250 MB in one chunk.....

Re: Book scans

The transfer completed. Hopefully it is not too much, but if so they can delete it and I'll try the next site. Wink

The Gzip file is gone from the Asimov Incoming directory, and there are 10 .PDF Files...

And, it looks like they have now been stuck into either unsorted or appropriate subdirectories within the documentation directory.

That's 10 books down, 177 to go. Not quite as quick and easy as imaging disks. Wink

Apple II in the Laboratory - A.F. Kuckes.pdf
Apple II_IIe_IIc Expansion Guide - Gary Phillips.pdf
Apple II User's Guide - Lon Poole.pdf

Are in the Unsorted, the rest have found a Home..

Only 177!!!! To Go!!!! Make sure your Will transfers them to an Interested Party, so they will get Scanned, eventually.....
