Orange Graphler Plus
Okidata ML 82A
1. So I didn't think any of the dip switches got change on the printer card or printer.
2. I was able to print from Apple write just fine. So I have decided to do something I have never done before on a apple II plus.
3. Print shop and graphics.
4. Test printing. First only printed Welco. Then I tried another disk image and it printed welcome to printshop.
5. Problem All the lines are spaced like auto LF is on after CR.
Things I tried to resolve this issue and results:
Read all three manauls:
a. Graphler +
b. Okidata ML 82a
c. printshop for apple II
Change dip switchs on card and or printer. Printer manual marked by prev. owner and what they should be set to. The LF after CR was already set correct. Upon setting it in the other position. I know had 2 lines for each graphic print.
The Print shop plus warned about some graphics / text printing bad via resolution. So I tried different fronts, graphics, and boarders. Still no luck.
Tried to find another graphic program for apple II plus. Harder than I though. I also tried some other text programs. No issues just prints fine. The PR#1 command for graphler + works fine. The self test works fine.
Strange Thing I notice:
When printing. Beofre it does what it does. It acts like the printer is jammed on the print head? I have only seen this as being bad garbage being sent to the printer or code before the programs start to print and or the printer neeting to be lubed. But that is why I did all the test printing above. So I'm thinking garbage code or printer driver Going back the day of pre-windows and using dos to print.
So I'm either missing something or it needs a bios upgrade or something on the printer / printer card. I guess. I do have a Epson printer that will emulate the old epson printers. Going to try that next. But if you guys can search you memory from the 1980+ and see if you remember anything. That would great. I prefer using print master. But when I looked into that and tried it. It seems to only be for the APPLE IIe or above.
I tried Sticky Bear printer. It has a okidata 93 only printer in it. It printed better for the test print but I still have the lines between each feed. So I remembered a few other things to try. Cleaning the print head. Double checking the ribbon path and lube a bar I forgot about. But the bar wouldn't really have anything to do with slight spacing. Just quite pritning. All the 9 pins look okay from the print head. But not like I have another one replace it with. Plus as stated above. The text print is fine.
