Hey everyone, new Mimeo builder here. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask questions or not, but I'm confused about one aspect of wiring the power supply. In the Apple-1 owners manual it says to connect the fuse to neutral and connect the two left wires on the transformers to the switch. However, I was reading this great guide on Corey's site about setting up the power supply, and it says to connect the fuse to the switch and the left two wires on the transformers to neutral; basically the inverse of the owner's manual.
Is this difference due to the fact that the owners manual describes a 2 prong setup while Corey's guide also describes a 3 prong setup? Or am I totally wrong here and either way is acceptable?
I can't seem to figure it out, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
(Sorry if this is a horrible question or I shouldn't be asking questions like this here)
Well the best way to say it is that putting the fuse near the switch can be safer if the fuse blows. As for the 3 prong vs two. That is also for safety since I add a bleeder resistor to drain the caps. This way there is less risk if you need to go work on the board. Both recommendations are from Wendell Sander who I think has had a setup like this since 1976 for his Apple-1.
Cheers,
Corey
Okay thanks for the help, was just curious about it. Thanks!
