Does anybody have the installer for iTunes 1.1 archived away somewhere? It's the last version that runs (with a bit of fiddling) on OS 8.6, so it's handy to have... seems to have dropped off VersionTracker (and the rest of the internet...) though.

SoundJam MP works fine in OS 8.6, no fiddling required. ITunes was originally just a copy of SoundJam. It came bundled with the old Rio mp3 players. The iPod and Apple owe a lot to Cassaday and Greene who created SoundJam. Don't know if you can find a free download.
This is a Spanish site where you can download it. Go to:

I found both 1.1 and 2.0.4 STILL on apple's website, with a bit of digging. hell, they still have Quicktime 5.0.5 on there. search for it. I got it installed on my PB G3 wallstreet, as well as the 8.6 hack.
let me do the digging. I know I will find it...
oh, you never know what you will still find on apple's site. like the ORIGINAL iPod commercial, and old Apple II software.
be back in a bit,

Cool! I just downloaded and installed iTunes 1.1 on my PowerBook 5300ce (117 MHz 603e, 64 MB RAM, Mac OS 9.1) and I'm streaming Internet radio via my cable connection! Admittedly, I won't be able to import/burn CDs, but it'll be fun to play with.
Thanks for the links!
While we're at it, here's the link to the patch to allow this version of iTunes to run on OS 8.6

If anyone's interested.
And now it would seem that the installer for the patch has disappeared from VersionTracker... here's a new URL:

I think I'll post it up on Filestore on AF too.
