ibook 366 and Panther just don't get along

Ok, i've got my ibook here and i cannot for the life of me get Panther to install successfully. Even with a completely freash install of 10.2 to go over, it freezes right at the end of the install of the 2nd disk. As soon as disk 2 finishes, it says to quit installer and re-start. as soon as i click quit it freezes. if i try and re-start it will get to the screen where the boot panel should be and it stops and goes no further. Anyone else had any problems like this? The disks worked fine on my Powermac B&W, so i think the CD's are okay. Anyone got a suggestion?

boot from another disk, (ie. apple store people should let you borrow one of their "firefly" disks to boot from)

then you should know the rest.

Huh?

No you don't. You might have an upgrade version or something, but the real 10.3 does NOT require 10.2 to be installed.

Apple includes 10.2 on most macs i think still, and they only include upgrade versions of 10.3.
