Hey, part of the fun is upgrading it yourself!

Nah, I know where you are coming from. I had been wondering pretty dang close to the same thing, as well!

In other words, is there someone out there who would be willing to have the CC shipped to their house and any needed parts and upgrade it for us?

Or would anyone want to do any "OS 9" CCs or even a "cube inside a CC" machine? Biggrin

The problem is that . . . .

. . . however skillful or experienced the person is, there's always the possibility that something will go wrong, or something in the CC - quite unrelated to the upgrade - will fail, or the upgrade won't work.

I once offered a resolution upgrade for CCs on eBay. It was a nighmare. I simply couldn't get a decent 640 x 480 display to work OK, I'd done many of my own CCs, but the first time I tried to do it for someone else 'commercially' - ARGH! Never again.

I'd pay to have someone stick a mini and lcd screen in my cc. I understand the limitations of the upgrades to existing hardware, but this would be mostly cosmetic/physical internal refitting completely new parts into the cleaned-out case of a cc. THAT is something that could be guaranteed commercially, I think, and something worth paying an experienced cc tinekerer to do.

I'm a tinkerer, but don't have the real expertise or tools to pull off such an upgrade. I want to keep my beloved cc, but have it earn its keep in my computer arsenal as a file or print server running OS X.

Any takers?

Could be an easy conversion,

Could be an easy conversion, but it depends on how authentic you want the final product to be at the back.

digitalgoddess, if you're serious about this, I'd be interested in doing the conversion. Feel free to send me a private message.
