iBook Firewire/SE Clamshell 366MHz 10GB 64RAM Indigo Lock Icon Partition

Have tried everything I know to solve the problem of when you go into Disk Utilities to use First Aid (or any of them, Raid, Erase, Partition), the buttons are whited over and unclickable. Driven hubby mad trying as well, so I'm just left slaving over the Clamshell as want to have it up and running to take an airport card but want to solve its glitch first.

If you go into where you would partition it? there is a big long retangular box with a tiny lock item (locked down) in the bottom left hand corner, saying, we presume, the hardrive is locked and thus I suppose why we cant do anything by the way of First Aid etc.

Any ideas, we may be in a small corner of England here, so am appealing to the Wider World out there.

Also, it is running OS 9.1 and OS 10.1.4, but it coughs and spits and whirs and trembles when I try to install Panther!

Thanking you in antipation of alot of you out there knowing a darned site more than me!!!

Many actions can't be done to

Many actions can't be done to the boot drive. Try starting from a CD and running Disk Utilities.

Panther requires at LEAST 128MB Ram iirc. If you upgrade the ram, it will run better.
I *think* you can throw a 512MB PC-100/133 So-DIMM into it. At least it worked in mine...
