Had someone experienced the same problem? Please ,please give me some instructions to help me slove this problem.
What you have to do is put the drive in another machine that can boot from CD-ROM, erase the drive, and reinstall Windows 98.
now first, i need to say "thank you" to 'themike ',for your help.
But i don't have the experience to remove the hdd from the notebook.
Is there any mannual which can give me the detail.
You are quite welcome.
I don't know of any manauls, however, from the Thinkpads I have opened, the inside is usually accessed by removing the keyboard, and the hard drive is inside somewhere.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, you may be able to find something here:

Here is where to get the hardware manitenance manual for the TP760XD.
http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=PFAN-3TJKLN
I think it starts on page 260 with a picture diagram on how to open the unit (keyboad) then on look on page 263 where they show the removal of the Hard Drive.
If anyone is looking for hardware maintenance manuals for Lenovo( formerly IBM) do a search. You should be able to find this:

This is the link currently for all their ThinkPad Hardware Maintenance Manuals.

Oh by the way I use to work for Ogilvy & Mather in the IT Dept handling Laptop Support (IBM's Global Advertisers back then - not sure if they still are but probably) IBM always tried to make things easy and grouped for easy access. As long as you get to their Index or Matrix then your good as gold and you will be able to find most stuff other than software where you need to have their originals for the older hardware s they only have updates usually for software packages... I started out on the 760's back then while users had the similar or higher models. When I left there they were already a few interations into the A/X/T/R/G Series.
