Hey,
It's been awhile since I had a 1400 but check in the back near the ports for a small rectangular button. Push it and see if the 'book responds. You may have to hold it for a bit. As I say it's been a while ...

Yes i've tried it but it didnt work any more sugestions...???
... and see if the behavior changes at all.
. . . if the pram battery is shot, startups are going to be really erratic. Pull the AC and the regular battery and let it sit overnight and then put it all back together and try and boot from the reset button. If it does start -- sometimes it takes several tries -- it's probably a dead pram battery. A minor problem.

What does a PRAM battery do??
Can someone help me/send me a link on
how to remove the pram battery?
The PRAM battery stores important information the Mac needs before the operating system loads: information like date & time, video settings, volume settings, startup disk & folder, and other information. This helps to ensure that the computer can still "remember" these things even when it's not plugged into the wall. When the PRAM battery is gone, the computer will "forget" these things.
One quirk: when the PRAM battery's voltage is low, but not completely gone, the PRAM will get "confused." The Mac won't be able to read the contents of PRAM at boot, so it won't know your video preferences, what disk to boot from, etc. With no voltage on the PRAM, it will revert to factory specifications, so you may not get the special preferences you set yourself, but the Mac will at least boot. The lesson here: low voltage on the PRAM battery is worse than none at all.
I'm sending you a private message to this effect.
So if there was no power in the PRAM would my PowerBook it still work?
It still wont work i unpluged the pram battery but still nothing
Leave the PowerBook plugged into the wall for 24 hours (with the PRAM battery disconnected) and report back.
