Do I need to worry about my g3 imac overheating?

Ok, so I have a summer 2001 g3 imac, 700mhz (along with the 600mhz one), and I have 1gb of ram, a 120gb 7200rpm 8mb seagate hard drive, and this optical drive:

I never thought of this but I read some things about how the g3 imacs have tendency to overheat. Is that true? Do I need to worry about that?

Not with care

My two Snow 500 DV-SE iMacs (July 2000) have been always-on since new, with their rear feet elevated on wooden blocks of at least 18mm to assist that dratted convective cooling. They are barely warm on their top surfaces when they are asleep, and noticeably warm when they are active. A corollary of allowing freer entry of air at the bottom is that exit of heated air at the top must not be impeded. Have no flat surface (eg shelf) above the Macs less than 5cm (2in) away at its nearest, and preferably also have space or opening for cross-draught.

One of my Indigo 500s (March 2002) has a 40mm lift, partly to get its screen vertical in my sound rack. The present Indigo 500 (August 2001) also has an 18mm lifter. None of these iMacs has ever shown heat stress. My study's annual range of temperature is about 15-30°C, with some useful heating in winter coming from some 20 other Macs.
