Upgrading to 575 mb

Now I run default motherboard with system 7.5.

I have bought a 575 mb and when I change it, system 7.5 refuses to start up.

I don't know where to start searching, if the connections are bad, if system 7.5 needs some kind of patching before changing motherboards, etc...

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Today I have done some more tests:

With default motherboard:

It runs system 7.1 that came with the mac.
It runs system 7.5 from the hd installed on a Classic II.

With 575 motherboard:

It doesn't run 7.1. (Something like it's too old for this computer, get a newer one. I didn't remember the exact words)

It doesn't run 7.5 from HD nor from the 31/2 disk.
(Sorry, a system error ocurred. "system" bus error.
To temporally turn off extension, restart and hold down the shift key)
Starting with shift key pressed but no luck.

Any idea?

Thankyou
Gus

Termination

Check to be sure the drives are terminated. Also, if you have an LC Cards (or NUBUS, Not sure if those were in the machine) you need to make sure they are seated right. Make sure connectors aren't dirty.

I normally got that when the Drives aren't terminated right. that, or a bummed terminator

Enabler

Hey,

The 575 needs an enabler for 7.1. That 7.1 won't work with the 575 is indicative of nothing wrong with the machine.

The machine works fine. The system or bus error is not an indication of any wrong with the machine.

Did you restart and hold down the shift key? What happened?

Well... some little progress.

Well... some little progress.

I finally have started the mb575 with system 7.1 using a program named "Wish I Were".
http://www.jmac.org/%7Ejah/ccvmod/
and selecting 575 computer.

I didn't know that I had "system enabler 401" y the system folder but that didn't solved the problem until I installed "Wish I where".

At least the mb is ok, I have to know what's the problem with mb575 + sys 7.5

sys 7.5

Hey,

How much ram is in the Classic II? Is 32-bit addressing turned on? If it's off, the harddrive won't boot on the 575.

No luck with mb 575 and syste

No luck with mb 575 and system 7.5. The same error after having copied "Wish I where" and the 2 system enabler I had.

I will try to make a clean installation when I figured how to copy the 19 parts of the system 7.5 available on apple's web.

I bought an Asante Ethernet card and I will try to connect to internet and download the system.
Do I need something to be the asante ethernet card recognized by the 7.1 system?

I will have to transfer also from my pc a tiny web browser. It has to be fitted on a floppy disk.
Any recommendation?

lc575

have been installing the system 7.1 software for a color classic...

system 7.1 bugs out if the system 401 enabler is not installed for the color classic motherboard. I used the System Update 3.0 disks to install. Don't know about a manual install and whether or not it will have effect. System 7.1 needs System Enabler 065 (also in the System Update 3.0/for the 575 motherboard) to be installed on the disk you are booting from (floppy or hard). I know that much...

am planning to install a 575 in a second case/second hd...

will keep you informed!

Finally it worked.
I changed de "Boot Process" to 10 of the "Gestalt ID" 99 as the manual said.

Now I have a Color Classic with a 575 mobo without the VGA mod and running 7.5

For system 7.5.3 available fr

For system 7.5.3 available from the Apple's homepage you will also have to modify the file "System 7.5 Update" the same way as "System" file to change the boot process to 10 for Gestalt ID 99.
