no video rewake on Quicksilver

Hi, I've got a QS with a 2002 Quicksilver motherboard (whose video card and 1ghz processor were fried when I bought it), now with an 867mhz processor and OS 10.3.9. When it goes to sleep the video will not re-awaken. The computer seems to re-awaken from deep sleep but the video remains black. I've tried three different AGP video cards--2 different Geforce 2mx, and a AGP Rage 128. I've reset the NVRAM to defaults in open firmware. I've trashed the energy saver preference. I've swapped hard drives to another, different 10.3.9 hard drive. I've minimized the RAM to one stick and tried different sticks. Zapped the PRAM. Put a new battery in. Made sure Patchburn installed the drivers for the Samsung DVDRW I've got in the machine. Hmm, what else? I removed the USB 2 PCI card I had in it. I've reduced all cards to just the video card. I think I had the problem before I installed the DVDRW and zip drive, but I suppose I should try disconnecting those too. Any other suggestions?

heh, good luck

I've never been able to get my 2001 QS to deep sleep, ever. I just tried it now to refresh my memory of what it does . . . reawakened with a gray kernel-crash error box in the middle of the screen.

I do have rather more than the basics inside however, so any of several things may cause my QS to crash.
1GB RAM, dual 800 cpus, 10.3.9, GF4Ti4200 128MB. PCI cards - Acard ATA133, FW800, USB2, Apple SCSI (ATTO PSC UW)

Who knows, but I gave up on sleep long ago. I just don't let it deep sleep, I turn it off when not in use. Not a biggie for me as it's a second machine, not used every day.

When searching on the interne

When searching on the internet for solutions, there was one person who claimed he cured his sleep issues by removing his USB2 card. My wife's 867mhz QS G4 sleeps and wakes just fine. It may just be my motherboard. After finding that the original video card and processor had been fried, I was surprised the motherboard worked at all. It seems to work fine except for the sleep thing. It'll be a second computer too and sleep is not really necessary. Would be nice to be able to say nothing is wrong with it at all if I ever go to sell it, though. I've got SCSI cards in my machines too, but neither QS will boot from a SCSI drive. My Digital Audio, on the other hand, has no problem at all booting from SCSI.
