iPod drive swap 'tween gens?

Will a 15GB drive work in a second gen 10GB? I know the larger drives were larger in size (that's why the 40 gig 'Pod are thicker), but will the thinner drives used in the low-end iPods work?

Or should I get a working motherboard for my iPod before looking for new drives? haha

Not gonna work. The folks ove

Not gonna work. The folks over at iPoding.com and iPodlounge.com ask that question all the time, and the basic answer is that even if you could physically make it fit, the iPod firmware won't like it.

Cool. Just checking, I did

Cool.

Just checking, I didn't need a bigger drive anyway, I just wanted to know if my drive was dead and I needed to replace it.

Will it work with drives of the same gerneration? Such as a 20 in a 10?

Firmware

What if you could update the firmware to a version that supports the larger drives?
