Wireless Networking

Hi everybody!

I have an iBook 800mhz G3 and a 450mhz Penti-crap PC. I would like to hook up my internet wirelessly to my iBook via my PC. If I bought an airport card for the iBook and say a cheap belkin pci wireless networking card, can you make the two connect? Sorry if everything sounds so dumb, but I know nothing about wireless networking!

Thanks

Oliver

as long as you have OS X on t

as long as you have OS X on the iBook and a recent version of Windows on the PC (2000 and later has internet sharing built in) ... then you should have no problems getting them to talk ... heck OS 9 will work with the internet sharing built into Windows ... but OS X plays alot nicer for file transfers

You don't NEED an ABS, as jus

You don't NEED an ABS, as just about any WiFi router should work fine with both. I got a Netgear MR814v2, it works fine, and looks like it was designed to sit on the desk along with the iBook and other silver/black equipment.

No AP needed AT ALL

No access point (ABS, NetGear, Linksys, etc) needed at all. 802.11b spec includes a non-infrastructure network. You can create a "computer-to-computer" network that is the wireless analog to using a crossover ethernet cable.

To be less polite, RTFM. Ahem, read the "friendly" manual.

Peace,
Drew
