ToySight bugs

ToySight has got to be one of the best games ever invented for fostering interaction. You should see what it does to parties. Apple should be including this with every iSight. They'd double their sales overnight if they gave demo models to dealers! But...

...It's not without its problems. The worst is that it seems to crash whatever application is run after quitting. I'm using a Sony camcorder over Firewire, and after a long game (it doesn't seem to matter which one), half a minute after quitting ToySight, the frontmost application crashes.

Also, it's possible to get the owl stuck between a corner and the bushes at the top of the screen. I had to quit to start over.

Finally, the music is beautiful and edgy, but do you really need to include repeated swearing in a toy? It's a real turn-off.

The application crash is an odd one. It's possible that ToySight is somehow consuming all the resources and the standard carbon tidy up code at the end isn't working somehow. Are you using the updated version of ToySight ?

Where's the swearing in the music ? We were somewhat paranoid in which tracks we picked for ToySight, knowing it would be selling mainly to a family market (some of the better Freekstar tracks had to be left out because of less neutral lyrics, such as the excellent Suicidal Skater Girl). Unless it's some localisation thing ?

However, one thing we've done with both Airburst Extreme and ToySight is leave the music files in an Audio folder, so if there's a particular type of music or content you don't like (While Jaffa Mountain, Freekstar and Abdoujaparov are great, we've all got different musical tastes) then you can replace the tracks with any mp3 file with the same name. (for future updates and games, we're going to pinch the iTunes playlist option from Big Bang Chess so you can configure your own choice of music Wink )
