item #5163460710 on ebay... seller says it's a 733 (and for some reason I believe that even though he won't answer my question about which one--DA or QS it came from) can you tell by looking (my DA 466 proc. board doesn't have the little extension off the corner like this board does)? I understand that the 733 DA has L3 cache and the 733QS does not, right? (I want to upgrade my 466 DA and the way this proc. is presented it looks like it will go cheaply.) thanks!
Ask for a photo with the heatsink off. If he claims he can't, he's a liar as you have to take the heatsink off in order to unbolt the processor card.
thanks. I will.
I haven't any experience with DA CPUs, but that looks exactly like my QS 733, including the heat sink. Uhh, well like my heatsink looked before I modded it to fit a dually CPU anyways.

Thats a QS module, so it does not have an L3 cache.
I think I'll let this one go... How difficult is it to fit my machine with a QS proc. anyway? I'm trying to get some speed out of this old box as cheaply as possible and 933 QS processors come up on eBay at pretty good prices sometimes. I don't know... maybe I should just get a good 3rd party upgrade for around $200 and quit worrying about it. thanks.
What makes you so certain of that? The tangent model cards are visually identical. The only way to determine presence of cache is to see if the cache chip is sodlered on the board next to the processor.
Not sure which card is the tangent card (I dont have an apple book of code names handy) but the DA 733 cards I have seen dont have that nub sticking out for the 4th powered screw mount like the QS's have.
It's still there, it's just not conencted to power.
