If the monitor is VGA then it should work. I am almost certain the B&W G3's had a VGA port.
yup its a vga monitor. its just that im trying to find a cheap lcd and the dells are really cheap but i didnt know if it would work on a b/w.
thank you
Modern vga is modern vga (i'm excluding the old fixed frequency sync on green monitors). So if the monitor has a vga plug and the computer has a vga plug, it will work fine.
Some lcd monitors won't work until you set the refresh rate of the monitor to 60hz though. So if yoiu hook up your new lcd and it doesn't fire up and instead gives an warning about out of range, change the refresh rate to 60hz and lower the resolution to a max of what the monitor can handle.
if you want a cheap LCD, go to http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-021-014&depa=1
Rosewill 17" with 300 ccd, 16ms for $229, probably cheaper than what dell can offer. I have a rosewill monitor and i will tell you they are SUPER bright and they are awsome, i totally dig mine
