imac summer 2001 (G3) volume question

my imac has a hi-pitch noise (like a ringing noise in your ear) even with volume at its lowest...gets louder with the volume up...what can I do about it before i go deaf?

Have to tried to upgrade your version of Panther?

Not a likely solution.

Sounds like a bad logic board.

Check for any interference from strong electric currents, magnets, radio transmitters nearby.

Otherwise... bad board, or, if memory serves, the amp is in the PAV board somewhere- could be that too.

Also try some external speakers or headphones.
