iSight

Not sure where else to post this one...

I am thinking about geting iSight to go along with an upcoming (and pending) Mac mini purchase. I am thinking of getting a unit to add to my wife's computer also (since I am no working out of state for an extended period).

What I need to know is:
1. Will my wife's 800MHz 15" flat-panel hemisphere iMac running X.2.8 support this? I am sure it will, but never really had an interest in learning about this 'till now).

(Assuming the answer to 1. is 'yes)
2. How do we connect to each other so that we can video chat live and I can see the wife and kids?

3. Is audio a part of the connection to each other, or are extra steps needed?

4. How can I make this somewhat secure so no one buts in un-invited? (private chat versus public)

TIA

iSight and iChat

iChat and the iSight are among the best things to come out of Apple. It's nice and polished and works great. Since the bulk of my family lives down in Florida, and I live up in Pittsburgh, the iSight and iChat AV enable us to visit very easily. Granted, the quality isn't the greatest, but it gets the job done and works well. Audio support in iChat was added with 10.3, so hopefully you have 10.3 at least on your 800 mhz flat panel iMac. Though, voice chat isn't enabled by default, you'll need to set that in preferences. Voice chat will work with just about any machine with a microphone. My younger sister's bondi iMac (233 mhz, 256mb ram, 8gb hdd) runs 10.3 well, and the audio for iChat voice chat works well.
