I'm looking to put a wide scsi drive in this old Powermac 5500/225. It's one of those wonderful ALL-IN-ONE cases that are just so easy to do anything with. I managed to thread a wide scsi cable through it to the drive bay in the back after removing one end. Anyway, my question is actually about the SCSI card I'd need for this. I don't know much about the compatibility of Mac PCI slots. Will any wide scsi card work with this or do I need a specific kind?

As long as the card specifies Mac compatibility, you should be fine. The Mac won't see it without there being a Mac ROM on the card.
There's a few PC SCSI cards out there that can be flashed that show up on ebay for cheap.
