3ric: A from-scratch 65C02 computer, browser emulator, and Apple II development environment

Hello everyone,

I’d like to share 3ric, a from-scratch Apple-II-class 65C02 computer that I’ve been building as a learn-by-designing project.

The project includes real schematics, programmable address decoding, a custom PCB, VGA video circuitry, its own 512 KB ROM, and a cycle-honest C++ emulator. That same emulator now compiles to WebAssembly, so the complete machine runs directly in a browser:

Help needed for Apple IIe PAL

Hi all,

I'm restoring an Apple IIe PAL/Euro.

Six month ago, I replaced all RAM IC and the computer works well.

Last week I powered it and it's gone bad.

I'm stuck on a display fault after a fairly thorough round of testing. Sharing the full detail in case anyone can offer input, or with some luck has a spare IOU to test.

PC Transporter Rev. E (“Little Blue Limited”) – RAM Expandability

Hi everyone. I’ve got a chance to pick up an Applied Engineering PC Transporter “Little Blue Limited”, but I’m trying to sort out a few technical details before pulling the trigger. This unit has six TMS 44C256 DRAMs installed — they’re the only socketed RAM chips on the board, which makes me wonder what AE actually wired up on this early revision.

Super Serial Card II Diagnostics

I have an Apple IIe with a newly acquired Super Serial Card II and DB25 cable. Is there an official Apple SSC loopback plug or diagnostic package? If not, is there a community-standard loopback plug schematic and preferred test software?

Apple III / Disk III not reading floppies

Hi there,

I'm a bit lost troubleshooting this quirky machine, and I figured that this would be the best place to discuss with tech wizards.

I got my hands onto a regular Apple III, 128k. Nothing particular with this one.

I had to change a 74S257N for it to boot, and I raised the 128K 5V card to 256k.

However I cannot boot on anything at all, either using the internal drive or an external Disk III plugged in the internal port.

I've cleaned heads, but I keep getting the dreaded "RETRY" prompt.

Apple II Disk II strange P5A ROM content

I have just burnt a set of Apple II Disk II PROM's P5A and P6A in two TBP28L22 PROM's.

Nothing special with the P6A PROM.

However here is a dump of the P5A PROM bin file as found in the Asimov repository.

I created my own Apple II Plus clone

(First of all, I can't believe I've been a member of this forum for almost 21 years!)

 

Haven't posted in a long time but since this forum was such an early influence for me I wanted to share my project. I have a real Apple II Europlus, but it's a bit bulky and not 100% reliable. I dreamed of something neater and simpler that I had a better unstanding of.

Apple IIe International corrupt composite out

Hi All,

 

About a year back I managed to get my hands on an APple IIe International computer. It came with an Apple II HDMI card so I have been using that for video the entire time.

Recently I went and bought an ESP32 to play with but after connecting it up, the display just showed flashing @ symbols. When I connect composite directly without the ESP32, it does the same so it looks to be something with my composite display. A diagnostics did not report any issues with the machine.
