Looking for old Alice In Wonderland Game (not the Windham Classic)

Hi All!

I'm hoping someone knows or can remember this game and point me in the right direction.

When i was a kid, I used to play this Alice in Wonderland game on Apple IIe computers at school; we're talking late 80s here.

Now, I've googled, but it is definitely NOT this game:

The above game is based on the Below the Root engine etc and is a sidescrolling RPG type game, and the game I used to play was NOT.

Disk ][ drive sounds bad

I have 2 Disk ][ drives. Drive 1 sounds silky smooth, Drive 2 sounds like it is struggling. Drive 2 makes a much louder higher pitched studder noise when kicking off an init, it is louder when writing, and it also throws in a high pitched squeak every once in a while. It just doesn't sound as healthy as Drive 1.

Is there any maintenance I can do to make this Drive 2 a little quieter and smoother?

Apple IIGS Formatting Questions

http://www.8bitcollective.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=6361

Basically you can see my problem. I have a new OSX Mac and a Windows 98 I believe. I have USB floppy burner/reader. I believe I have the old DD floppies and the "new" floppies. Also does anybody have the disk image for the newest version of Noisetracker (which I believe is 4.0?) and the disk image for the newest version of Soundsmith that they could send me? Thank you all so much for your help! Sorry that I am not well versed enough in this topic. Thank you again!

Disk ][ Speed Testing - need troubleshooting advice

I'm running Copy II plus v8.2 on two Disk ][ drives using an Apple IIe (I copied it over to the apple IIe disk using ADT). I suspect I have bad 5.25 disks that I mail ordered recently. However, I'm checking the drive speed to be sure. Drive 1 is successful in initializing the new disks 90 percent of the time. Disk 2 is almost never successful. Disk 2 sounds crunchier than disk 1 when it reads and writes and tries to init a disk. Disk 2 has been opened and checked for head dirt, it is clean.

Checking Drive speed with Copy II Plus, which version should I use?

I am going to check the speed of a Drive ][ connected to a standard Apple IIe. Does it matter which version of Copy II Plus I use to read the speed? I noticed there are a number of versions available. Which one should I try to use. -thanks

Also, when adjusting drive speed, how far does the speed screw need to be turned to make a noticeable difference? Barely any or alot? I don't want to over crank it on the first try.

Any other random speed tuning advice would be appreciated. THANKS.

Apple II PLUS tech Q on IC and power indicator light

Hi

I have an JAMECO 16K RAM card that is currently in slot 0 of my Apple II plus. It also has a ribbon cable that plugged into the IC location E1. Does anyone know what was the original IC that went in this slot? I need to replace the chip in to debug a couple of minor problems.

Also, my power indicator light is out (missing). I have the Apple II PLUS that has the power indicator button flush with the system. Anyone know what kind of bulb and voltage rating that went in there?

Disk ][ Drive 2 installation question

I recently installed a second Disk ][ drive in my Apple IIe. The first drive's ribbon was already clamped into one of the holes leading out of the back of the case, so I just fed the second drive ribbon out of another hole in the back next to the first one. I didn't have another metal clamp to secure the second ribbon so I just refitted the plastic tab that seals the hole with the ribbon coming out the side of it. It's not a great solution but the ribbon is fairly secure.

Need 5.25 floppy buying recommendations ...

I purchased some Platinum 2S/DD 5.25 disks recently and they don't work very well with the drives. They work about 85% of the time but I get far more I/O errors from them than with my 25 yr old 3M 5.25" disks. Drive 2 can't initialize these disks either, but drive 1 can usually.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what kind of 5.25" floppies to buy for an Apple IIe and where to buy them?

-thanks
