Apple IIgs hard drive

What kind of hard drive will work on a IIgs, a profile? Or what other kind? Thanks! I am going to install GS/OS on it, just in case you need to know...

Apple 5.25 drive boots before 3.5

Okay, I know I have been posting too many questions and need a lot of help, and I wish I could help you people out, but I can barely help myself! (lol) I will try to help other people when I learn more about this stuff, it's hard to remember everything from sometimes over 20 years ago! Anyway, when using my IIgs, it always tries to look at things in the 5.25 drive instead of the 3.5 drive where I want it to.

Apple II+ question....

I have an Apple II+ , and want to improve the apple's memory.... I remember back in the day , that there were certain rom boards that one could use , to beef up the apple's memory from 64k to 128K , infact I remember there was a board that I had at one time , that actaully had DOS 3.3 on it! And when I would bootup the apple , it would drop to a DOS promt and I could actually do basic commands right from there! Catalog , etc... but getting back to the board , if someone could suggest a board , that would be great , this way I could run Apple //e programs on my II+

IIgs wont boot GS/OS

When starting up my IIgs and booting GS/OS, and it responds -

Unable to load START.GS.OS file. Error=$0027

It was working fine today and all the sudden won't boot anymore except it will boot from a 5.25 inch disk. Please help, I can't believe it's not booting!

Microtek serial parallel card??

Hey all,
Nice forum here Biggrin

I got a nice Apple IIe (with 80 column/64k expansion card, does this make a IIe "Enhanced"?).
Anyway, there is a card inside it, a MicroTek SV622, attached to a female DB25 port. Is this a serial or parallel port? Google has not been helpful, and I've not been able to get ADT to work with it. I can provide pics if it helps.

Keep IIgs from booting from any slot but 5

Add desk accesories to GS/OS 6.0.1

I am running GS/OS 6.0.1, and want to know if I can add desk accessories to the apple menu or desktop. Like a calculator, like I have seen in pictures of GS/OS 6.0.1, and a notepad and all of that kind of stuff. Thanks.

Apple iigs puts out different color text

When I run any software with color in it, I am using a green monochrome monitor, but I plug the hookup into the TV and the text is many colors, like every letter is a different color, and the apple is differ colors too. Is there a setting I have to change for color monitors? Also, when using GS/OS 6.0.1, while I look at the time, every time another second adds on to the clock I can here something inside the IIgs. Even when the clock is just sitting there waiting to add a second into it. Can I make the time dissapear and stop making it keep track of time? Or can I make that noise stop?

Apple II Dot Matrix printer churns out rubbish

Hi
I have an Apple Dot Matrix Printer here which when connected to my //e only churns out rubbish. I have tried setting the DIP Switches to default (as according to the manual) and checking the cable with no avail and consequently I am pretty much stuck! Any ideas/suggestions anyone?

Create double-sided floppies

Is it really true that you can make floppies double sided if you cut a small space congruent to the other side to make them double sided. I have heard stories, but don't believe them.
