Wondering about needing a fan

A long time back I’d pulled a lot of Acard SCSI to ide adapters from a bunch of old Macs. At the time I never thought to use them. They were attached to ide drives. Why use them when I had lots of SCSI drives? Later I thought of using them with ide to CF adapters. So I replaced the drives in a lot of SCSI enclosures with these. Then the only noise was the fan. Lately that’s been bothering me. Going solid state I’ve wondered about even needing the fan. I have a Century Corporation ide to SCSI enclosure that came with a CF adapter and never had a fan.

Help diagnosing my CRT for Apple II

Hello, I just bought this CRT with a smearing/streaking issue. Already recapped all of the caps and the issue is still there. Can you suggest anything to check? I believe this is a clone of Sanyo VM 4509, the schematic is here https://elektrotanya.com/sanyo_vm4509.pdf/download.html

Apple II plus , Startup issue

I am having a startup error with my apple II plus. When I first sit down to turn it on everything works, wonderfully no issues at all. Now after wanting to swap disks/reset the computer with the on/off switch , the computer then boots up with a weak beep and a strange screen. If I leave it turned off for 30 minutes and come back then it all works again. It's only when it's that quick on/off/on. I'll attach an image of the screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I'd be happy to answer any questions! Thanks :)

Crimper

Does anybody know what the best type of crimper to use for the Apple II power supply conector pins?

Like the ones shown here:

Apple II Memory Select

Hi guys! A small quick project, I did as usual for myself, but I will be glad if it will be useful to someone else. 2 years ago when I was translating the manual for Apple II replica Mike Willegal I found a description of a very complicated way of making these jumpers, but the result is much better. My project is something between soldered wires and the method of the respected Mike Willegal. In the archive there are 2 versions of jumper blocks for 4 and 16kb.

PrintTok/cc65 updated!

I just updated PrintTok online.  The main update is more two-byte tokens for two versions.  Both versions support 128 more two-byte tokens, but version 006 lost 26 two-byte tokens due to a conflict between two sets of tokens.  Version 006 is an update from 004 that now provides better support for memory expansion and, if you need between 65 and 192 tokens, it is now a little more efficient if you disable unneeded tokens, as the new tokens require less processing.  Version 007 is updated only by the extra tokens.

Need help identifying Apple II pickup

Hello Everyone,

IIgs not starting up, garbled graphics

Hey there, Apple chums! ;)

Frank from Germany here, nice to talk to you all again, asking for your advice.

So my IIgs won't start anymore. After switchng on I either get what looks like a big fat inverted L or some colourful patterns. Resetting the machine with CTRL-Reset I get, in turn, black screens, random characters, or blue, green, red, purple, or a mixture of all garbage graphics.

Does thing ring a bell to any of you IIgs buffs? CPU or ROM, perhaps? My machine is a ROM 01 BTW.

Thanks in advance for any input,

Frank

ADTPro over serial won't communicate with host after ADTPro loaded

I've done my due dilligence as much as I can by scouring this forum and Google for answers, and found some suggestions, but none seemed to work. I'm trying to send and receive images to my IIe via a super serial card. I can bootstrap just fine over serial from my MBP and from my Win 10 machines, but when I try to receive a file from my host machines, I get the message waiting for reply from host.
