Any chance of putting "Back to the Garage" book online?

[I also posted this on the Briel Computers forum but I think this is a more appropriate place]

The Apple I Replica Creation: Back to the Garage book was published in 2005, so I imagine it is getting a little dated as far as the details of the Replica 1, being based on the first edition design. Is there any possibility of putting the book on-line? If there was, it might even be possible to let people annotate or updsate it to reflect the Replica 1 third edition and other tips they might have.

Actually this page says it will be coming on-line soon but was posted way back in 2005. Was that planned but never happened?

The answer is quite simple: there is under normal conditions no chance....
the reason: if any book is published the normal contracts always transfer the rights from the author to the publishing company..... and the company that printed the book will usualy not grant that right to public area unless at least 20 years have past...
so unless you don´t have the written permission from the publisher there will be no chance...
the only chance will be probably to get a permission from the publisher - is to ask if only a part of the book ( something about 15 % from the entire book ) may be granted to be published in the internet as a kind of merchandising "test-text" with the ad to order the rest from the publisher and a link to him....
some publishers accept such kind of proposals....
every other attempt will bring you up to the gates in front of court with a bunch of lawyers against you, searching for your wallet and your money.... and that surely will be a bad idea.. and it will cost more than 100 books....

Actually I think Tom is working on an updated version that will be available on-line. I'm not sure what he is doing or what deals he has made with his publisher to allow this. As for the link being from 2005, Remember for most of us this is all a side thing. Some weeks we get plenty of time and other weeks we barely have time to write something as short as this. I will use this week as an example for myself; I started out with all the best intentions on building a power module for my Apple-1 Mimeo, and then work exploded and until this morning I barely had time to read the site. Writing a book or even revising it takes much more time than even soldering and assembling a computer, so where I'm measuring my projects in weeks or months, a book would be in years especially since once you stop it can take time to get back in the groove.

Cheers,
Corey

I don't want to give too much away, but let's just say that you should stay tuned.

Thanks for all the responses. I hope eventually there is an updated version or at least some on-line updates. In the mean time I'm going to order a copy.

I wouldn't do that, if you can wait a month or so.

I have also been considering purchasing a copy of "Back to the Garage." Should I buy it, Dr. Webster, or should I wait? I understand if you do not want to give too much away.
