Rare Console Messages

One user I look after has an enormous number of this line item in the console:

"error evaluating Type 4 function: typecheck."

We use Adobe Creative Suite 2. A quick search via Yahoo found 2 other people posted this error but no answers as to why it happens. Best lead is currently at:

PC Projects- Ubuntu Linux on Dell Laptop

There was an extra Dell at work, so I formatted it and installed Ubuntu Flight 4.

It crusied along nicely, then choked on the kernel. Then it presented me with a choice of 3 kernels, so I chose the bottom one because it had a version number in it.

That seemed to work fine.

Boots into Ubuntu fine! Now I want to update it to the latest release, by Synaptic Package manager doesn't seem to work. So I need to change the repositories that it is looking in to get the updates. Why does it have to be so convoluted!

PC Projects - Fedora Core on Pentium

This is on a Compaq DeskPro 4000 with >128MB RAM.

First I had a successful Red Hat 7.3 installation on this machine. Except for the fact that I hadn't done the installation that included gcc, so nothing new could be compiled.

I tried doing an upgrade, having chosen the graphical install. But it hung somewhere during the install. So I rebooted and erased the partitions. Then I did the text-only install, and it finished fine.
