I would like to hack a 6100 power supply so that it will give me more amps on the 12 and 5 v lines. I suppose this means changing some of the components. Has anybody done this before ore is there anybody that can give me some advice? I do have a couple of spare power supplies that can be used for the project but I am a novice as far as electronics are concerned:)

Unfortunately, that isn't a 'remove and replace' component operation.
Your best bet would be to use a higher rated power supply, though you might need to put the whole computer in another box.
Out of curiosity, why do you need more amperage?
You could probally stick a second small psu inside the case...
Well, when I ad up all the cuurent of the components I would like to have in there:
12 V: available: 2.5 (according to the label on the psu)
Consuption: Hard drive 1,49 ( this is a maximum consumption); Fan 0,2 ; CD drive1.2 ; i don't know about the floppy drive (does it use the 12 volt rail?).
The 5 V rail I'm not shure but with the sonnet G3 card 164 MB of ram, the cd drive the hard drive,and the av card that I would like to ad...
It seems that I'm pushing it to the limit...
Heat, not current, may be more of a concern in that case. The 6100 has a reputation for being toasty with larger drives installed (unless that fan you mention is not the PSU fan). Add in a G3, and you've got an easy-bake oven.
It adds extra space to your environment, but hacking together an external hard drive case with its own PSU would sort you out.
Otherwise, I'd consider adding additional cooling to any power supply modifications you make.
Well that was the intention. But extra fans ,a heavier PSU fan and something wich sucks in air underneath the hard drive (maybe a blower) use more current, hence the search for more power.
Right now it runs fine with a barracuda and the sonnet but with the AV card there will be even more clutter and I would like to use that plextor 40X CD (that of course also needs a bit more juice...)
The suggestion of a small extra powersupply inside the case ins't bad either . But the only place I can put it is behind the memory right next to the PSU. And that will clutter up things even more....
So any help .....

I'd go buy a standard 1U supply that meets your requirements. You can turn it on by shorting the green wire to ground.
