Late „Language Card“ AE 16k Pocket Rocket

Hello,

I‘m looking for Informations about the Applied Engineering 16k Pocket Rocket, which was a late „Language Card“ for the Apple II/Apple II +, populated with 2 CMOS RAM chips, a  bus-driver and a PAL.

I have found only poor quality pictures, and only just from the Front side, not from the back side.

http://mirrors.apple2.org.za/Apple%20II%20Documentation%20Project/Interface%20Cards/Language%20Cards/AE%2016k%20Pocket%20Rocket%20RAM%20Card/Photos/

Is there anyone in the community who got such a AE 16k Pocket Rocket, and could make some pictures?

If the PAL code for it, would be available, that would also help me a lot.

Or someone is willing to sell one of those card, that would be fabulous!

Thank you very much for your efforts and your kind help!

Joe

Hi Joe65!

I unfortunately don't have this card, but I was very interested in cloning it. You bet, only 4 chips!

I don't think it's worth

I don't think it's worth cloning it, but I like the minimal design of it.

There are already too many Saturn Cards out, which are cheap, and do a Language Card's Job as well.

I wonder such a small PAL is able to handle everything according to Apples rules how to access the Language Cards RAM. Also about /Reset: some Language Card respond, some not.

There was at least one more card out, with an even lower , if you're looking for an easy clone one.

Just 3 Chips...

How about just 2 chips!

If you're looking for a really cheap Saturn clone, check out retro_devices Saturn board.

Jeffmazur,Would you mind

Jeffmazur,

Would you mind sharing GAL code and schematic of it? Would give me an idea of how the AE 16k Pocket Rocket could work inside the PAL..

Thank you for sharing!

The schematic of the LC is

The schematic of the LC is widely available. You should be able to deduce the PLD equations from that.

Or ask retro_devices.

Or ask retro_devices.

I am neither the designer of the Apple SRAM language card, nor of the AE's Rocket card, why should he ask me? If the same logic is followed he may ask you.

It is aggressively priced, not cheap, especially 5 years ago.
