PrecisionColor Pro 24AC

Bama,

You mention having a Radius PrecisionColor Pro 24AC nubus card, but I don't see a photo of that in the Google image collection you linked for us.  Can you please post a clear photo of the chip side so I can verify the ROM version and see the card condition?

Thanks!

PrecisionColor Pro 24AC

Hi JDW,

I really appreciate your videos and engineering savvy.

I don't own a PrecisionColor Pro 24AC.  It's in my wishlist!. Apologies for the confusion.  I will let you know if I find a reliable source.

Best,

Sam

Misunderstanding

I apologize for my misunderstanding.  I was thinking you had all that and wanted to trade for it! :-)

Finding video cards used to be an easy task 15 or so years ago.  I didn't have a NuBus Mac back then, so it wasn't a priority for me.  I'm mulling the purchase of a IIci right now, which is why I've been investigating video card options, and the PrecisionColor Pro 24AC as at the top of my list.  It's a good card. I understand why you want it too.

I've read that in terms of raw pixel moving speed, nothing beats onboard video, at least not in a IIci.  The reason to add a NuBus card on the IIci is if you want more than 256 colors and/or resolutions higher than 640x480 (or higher than a full page display).

On the YouTube front...

Stay tuned because I am set to release the mother of all videos about custom ROM SIMMs and the Programmer from CayMac Vintage!  It's basically a walkthrough on how to create disk images for flashing to ROM SIMMs. You can even flash stock ROMs too, regardless of your custom ROM SIMM size.  The Programmer is great because if flashes SIMMs from all the major vendors.

I think I have a NuBus video

I think I have a NuBus video card or two around here somewhere.  I should put them out on eBay.  Maybe they would sell better than the //e I have listed.

Video about ROM SIMMs

Thank you for being a subscriber.  I didn't return here and post the link because I didn't want to distract from your opening post. You probably already know the link anyway as a subscriber, but here's the link again:

ROM SIMM Fun on Vintage Macs & News from VCF Midwest

What inspired me to make the video was the resurrection of the ROM SIMM programmer.  But I quickly realized I couldn't do a video on that alone because I needed to also talk about ROM SIMMs.  And then I realized I would upset the various SIMM vendors if I only showed a single vendor, so I had to obtain a collection of ROM SIMMs to test.  Testing is what caused the video prep time to run about 7-weeks in total.  But then I realized I needed to show people who to pretty much do everything, including creation of a Disk Image using Mini vMac.  And I then realized the video wouldn't be complete without a history segment, which is what you see at the beginning.

It was a real joy collaborating with most all of the key players in ROM SIMM creation history, such as Jeff Walther, Rob Braun, Doug Brown, Steve Chamberlin, and even Gamba's sister.

I hope you enjoy it.

Best wishes.
