Hi all:
I was fortunate enough to pick up an Apple IIc + with monitor for an amazing deal.
Things look good so far but I was running into some ADTPro issues, I think its cabling.
But it got me thinking. What about picking up an external 5.25" off eBay? Can the IIc+ use any of the 5.25" externals, some on eBay say for Macintosh. Is there a difference?
The other thought was, can a floppy drive from a IIe or II+ be adapted to work? My gut says unlikely as I am willing to bet the bus is different. Just a guess, but I suspect the external floppies are SCSI.
Any thoughts and expereience/suggestions welcome. I brought the CPU home with me from my travels, but the monitor had to be mailed. I'll post some photos once the monitor arrives in the mail.
Cheers,
mark
The Apple 5.25” drives with 19 pin connectors will work.
The Apple 3.5” drives with eject buttons will work
Floppy drives with the IDC-20 like used on the Apple Disk ][ Controller Card can be used, but you will need an adapter.

That's one, there are a few others available like this one:

Good replies to these questions have already been posted.
My compatibility chart lists the Unidisk 5.25 (A9M0104), Apple 5.25 (A9M0107), Unidisk 3.5 (A2M2053), and Apple 3.5 (A9M0106) as compatible with the IIc+. The Disk II is compatible using an adapter.
In addition, please be advised that NO Apple II or Apple III 5.25 drive can safely be connected to a Macintosh, despite using the same type of connector. The Macintosh floppy port only supports 3.5" drives.
Thank you @wayne and @softwarejanitor for your reply. This was a big help. I will pick up one of these adapters.
You might also want to look at upgrading to the ROM5X or ROMXC+.
