Agreed. Now if someone would

Agreed. Now if someone would create this kind of product for the PM G4 MB's I'd be in heaven.

Well boy-howdy!

That seems like a cool deal! Anyone that has one want to post a couple of hi-res photos of the PCB and its components?

Something like this would also be great for the slot-loading iMacs. Seems that more and more of these machines that I know of are succombing to analog board/PS failure, and would be good candidates for logic board transplants if it weren't for the steep learning curve.

What I want to know is why th

What I want to know is why they didn't make a kit for the tray loaders (or did they and I missed it)? The amount of tray loaders with video problems is amazing.

What would be the difference between this kit and one that would be for the bondi's?

Why? G4's are a piece of cake

Why? G4's are a piece of cake. You can use an ATX supply on most andjust cut one wire, for power on you can get the ower on boards on eBay for cheap.

This kit looks neat though, as the slot load iMacs are quite a bit different the older guys (233-333).

True enough for the sawtooth

True enough for the sawtooth models, but anything after that and you need extra voltage, so it's not as simple. It seems to me that if someone were to make a board that would step up the voltage, then there would be a market for not only modders, but also people w/ dead PS's. Unless you know of an easier way, in which case I'd love to hear it. Acute

You only need the 25V if you

You only need the 25V if you use an ADC monitor. If you use DVi or VGA it is not needed.

28v is required on Gigabit Ethernet boards

I steped up a 5v line from an ATX power supply to a 28v trickle which the GE board requires or else it will not boot.

I used this design I found on another mac forum:
http://homepage.mac.com/baakre/.cv/baakre/Public/28v_vreg.pdf-link.pdf

I put a GE board in an old NeXT slab case. (All parts lovingly wraped and boxed, and no permenant alterations to the case) It works, however, I have not used it for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time.

Posting high res images of ma

Posting high res images of marathons iMac adapter circuit would be a breach of copyright?

Would it?

Seems like that happens pretty regularly with expansion boards around the AF site, especially Nubus. Granted, most of them are out of production, but if any of them are copyrighted I would highly doubt that the copyright has expired.

shipping costs

Good price, ok, but for us living in Europe they want $82 for shipping.... After reading this forum, I'll try to put my broken 400 DV together myself. Until now you've been a great help!
