I am looking for, and can not find, an operation disk for my Sider. I need to format and partition the drive. My Apple //E sees the hard disk but I get an error in the boot sector. Any help here would greatly be appreciated. I would be willing to compensate someone for a copy of this disk. (Signed)- Sider sitting idle.

Hi Wayne,
This (ancient post) looks exactly what I need to get my Sider running, but the link is now dead. Can you help please?
Regards,
Geoff
Been a while since I was with Telus

Thank you, that looks very useful. I thought my drive was dead but putting the floppy card in slot 6, the Apple boots from the Sider. There is a menu on boot up but the o/s commands Pascal, CP/M and ProDos produce a warm boot screen then nothing, no prompt, no error message. Looks like some files are missing or damaged. Awesome HD run-up sound and it takes about 40 seconds to stop. It is a Shugart 712 and not a Xebec as expected.

Wow, it has been a long time since I've seen park heads. I know, I'm a spoiled rotten kid. ;-)
All good things come to he who waits...
I have succeeded formatting and partitioning one of my Sider drives. I have wild card copied Prodos from a floppy to the Prodos partition on the Sider. I get the Sider menu on boot, but it does not boot into Prodos. I verified that all files were copied from the Prodos disk produced by ADTPro. Prodos runs OK from the floppy. Have I got the wrong version (1.0.1), or is something missing?
The Sider is now in the same state as when I received it, so maybe the original owner could not set it up to function.
The Boot into DOS and Utilities options works, so the system looks OK, but no Prodos boot.
I have a copy of the later Sider interface EEPROM, 103684C but that does not see the drive. I have EEPROM 103684A installed.
I'm using the 103816 on mine. which are you using?
103684A , which is I think the original code. I found 103684C on bitsavers., but I can't boot or install with this. Disk 1 installer gives a I/O error. The installation manual (or somewhere else?) mentions later code for Prodos only applications.
One Sider has a Shugart 712 drive with a large Z80 bridge circuit board (I must dump the EEPROM on this) This one stays powered up if the Apple is switched off. The other Sider built only 3 months later has a Xebec drive with integrated electronics. This poweres down if the Apple is powered down. Both slot 7 interface boards have the same firmware.
Both systems exhibited the same odd behavious not booting Prodos, CP/M or Pascal, only booting to DOS and Diagnostics . They were from the same source, so I suspect the original owner failed to configure correctly
I had some problems with that ROM
If you feel like trying the 103816 you can find it here

I tried 103816 ROM, Sider would not boot. Get an I/O error if I try to redo the installation from disk 1.
I noticed there is not much code in the ROM, mostly 0xff, some code starts at 0800
I noticed the D4 manual talks about ProDOS 1.1.x being installed at the factory, perhaps 1.0.1 is not compatible.
Probably not related but my 10 MB Sider would only boot certain partitions dependent on card/slot configurations, such as specific slot where the Z80 card was, and whether or not a Microdrive was plugged in anywhere. Pascal was the only one that would not work under any condition I could find.
