60Hz 640 mode on 13" MCD.. is it possible?

Is it possible to run 60Hz 640x480 on an MCD analog board and a CC tube with MCD yoke? I am building a VGA to RGB converter right now and am wondering if it is going to work. I need a backup plan in case this does not work. I need to run 60hz. Thanks to all who have already been very helpful with this.

In a word...Yes.

Previous discussion is viewable in the old forums right here. It should answer many of your questions.

Just a tip...this probably could have stayed in the previous 'CC as monitor' thread you started. Wink

I have read and re read that

I have read and re read that post and thread over and over and over.... BEFORE I posted this question... I need to know if the MCD can do 60 hz. That is the question. I am not a forum noob as you imply.

Scott, Unfortunately -- an

Scott,

Unfortunately -- and it would be great if someone could correct me here -- I believe the answer to your question is, "We don't know." The MCD indeed runs at 67Hz (the "High-Res" refresh rate as opposed to the VGA refresh rate).

I would imagine it could be modified to run at 60Hz -- usually monitors are unable to run at _higher_ refresh rates rather than lower. But Angel it might not be able to be so modified, and (b) because it's not a multiscan monitor, you might have to mess with some voltages on the analog board in order to achieve your desired result.

I know there's a generic monitor/TV FAQ somewhere out there, and I know it's been linked to in a number of threads at the old AF forums.

Best,
Matt

Actually, I think the answer

Actually, I think the answer is a definite maybe Wink So please try it out and let us all know, ok? My reasoning is this: An LC575 board is similar to an MCD, an assumption I base on the fact that the Trinitron tube from each has an identical Sony part number. An LC575 board, which normally is stuck at VGA@67hz, can have the sense lines modified to give the options of VGA@60hz and SVGA@56hz. So modify the sense lines on the MCD, and you should be able to select those options.
