What was your favorite Christmas Gift?

Ok Guys and Gals,
What did you get for Christmas and what was your favorite of them?

I got $70, A set of Calvin Klein deo and Toilet Water (I guess this is the guys version of Perfume?) Candy (Yay!!! Now I have something to munch on for those late-night sessions!) Nintendo's Smash Bros. Melee (I have had my Game Cube for 6 Months and have not played it for five of them due to the fact that I only had 1 Game before this)A Barnes & Nobles $25 Gift card ( for when I need coffee while reading and doing work on the go.) Hopefully a webcam so I can talk to him thru Yahoo! or AIM. And a G3 400MHz upgrade for my PowerComputng PowerBase computer.

I think my favorite among them is the G3 upgrade w/ the Webcam followed close behind.
FYI: you don't have to list any embarrassing stuff that you got.

Happy Holidays!!!
and have a happy New Year to all of you Fritter' Critters

Map

My priest caught me after the Christmas Eve service and gave me a package. It contained a map of the city I'm moving to in a week. The map has little sticky notes all over it which point to good places to get a cup of tea, or decent restaurants, that kind of thing. Best gift I got this year.

I also got a couple of really nice suitcases, a bunch of clothing, a few tools, and a couple pieces of dishware. It was a practical Christmas, which is just fine with me.

Toys!

Best gift I got was one I bought for myself:
A 1/100 scale Master Grade Gundam kit
Such a nerd. Acute

I gave my wife the Strong Bad Email DVDs, which was a bit of a 'bowling ball' present because I get to watch them as well.

Worst present I got: A foot and a half of snow (thank you very much, Reverend, it ain't often Canada gets a snow-filled storm system from Texas-way Blum 3 Wink )

Favourite: the unending mound

Favourite: the unending mounds of chocolate(yay!).

Most amusing: one of those clockwork teethy things that chatter and move around.

Classic: Panasonic SC-EN7 MP3 micro system. Mother dear, I already have one of those, you were with me when I bought it. Well, now I have two. Wink

Well, I got....

I got:

  • A chance to spend the holidays with people I care about, some of which I haven't seen in a couple of years,
  • Linux Administration: A Beginner's Guide (light bathroom reading),
  • 3 sweaters,
  • 1 pair of khakis,
  • $85,
  • A new digital camera (our present to ourselves - if the battery cover on your old camera is being held down with pull ties, it's time to get another one. The old one was a Kodak DC2300, the new one is a Samsung Digimax 4010)
  • 2 SD cards for the camera

hmmm...

I got a nice pocket watch and 'some' Biggrin

Ohh, and toilet water is gender neutral name for cologne. The scent is what distinguishes the intended gender (flower vs musk). Basically it is a dilute form of the perfume concentrate. If it is in a spray form, it is also refered to as eau de toilette. The concentrate form is eau de parfum (perfume or parfum if not in spray form). Basically one is more concentrated and expensive then the other. More info on this can be found at http://ask.yahoo.com/ask/20030226.html

An XD memory stick...

... for my digital camera, a cool bunny-fuzz bomber hat (to keep my wig-warm on those cold South Dakota outings), The Return Of The King Extended Version DVD, and a set of skull & crossbones valve stem covers for my mt. bike (from my 15 yr old son. Guess who's bike they'll probably end up on?)

A nice bonus after-Christmas gift is 3 evenings of solitude; my two oldest kids are marching in the Rose Parade on New Years Day, my wife flew out today for the event, and the youngest of the brood are with Grandma & Grandpa for the balance of the week. The downside of that is that I've got a laundry room floor to tile while they're all gone. (sigh.) It'll be a bit strange to have a quiet house for that long.

.

I got a really large number of small-type things, among them things such as a flashlight, a cheap digicam, some stationary, the 2005 Guinness book of records, a Grisham novel, some movies, etc.
I also got a new crystal Xbox to replace the one that broke (warranty got voided when I put linux on it, I'll probably just pull the drives for another PC, and I could use its case and motherboard in a project later)
Oh, and on boxing day (day after christmas in Canada, every store in the country has nutty sales) I got a d-link broadband router for $10.

Re: well piles of clothes as usual

Creative SBLive.
Relatively cheap, and the quality is absolutely awesome.
The newest one is the 24-bit 7.1 card, here. Can't go wrong with it unless you're a hardcore religiously vinyl-bound uber-audiophile.
I got the SBLive! 5.1 Digital Dell edition, though it was quite expensive at the time, even on sale. Didn't regret it for a second.
Also, always go for the OEM stuff. It's cheaper, and you don't get any BS. Who needs a warranty on a sound card anyway?

It wasn't a christmas present

It wasn't a christmas present but the day after my wife let me use some of our gift money to go to our local MicroCenter and buy the Samsung 160GB ATA100 and Toshiba-Samsung Dual-layer DVD burner that they had both on sale for about $59.99 (no rebates needed! WOO!) each. They had cart loads of the burners, but they almost ran outta the hard drives by 10am. Now I just need to find a cheap/used USB 2.0/IEEE 1394/ATA(100|133) combo card to stick in my Optiplex GX1 box to really get some use of them. Winders2k only sees 130GB of the drive on the builtin Ultra33 ATA bus, but FreeBSD and Linux see the whole thing... So far I've done a Stage 3 Gentoo install (my first try of Gentoo, not bad) wiped it, did a FreeBSD 5.3 install (X.org is now their default), and am still wondering what to do with all that space.
