So what I have is 2 Bondi iMacs. One runs great, I'm the 2nd owner after my grandma, the HD crapped out in it, so I got it, replaced it with a Maxtor (?) 60 gig and haven't looked back, runs Panther great, with almost 100 days up at the moment.
Now on the other hand, I got a free one from a local indie music store, with a problem where it would boot a little, then crap out. Turns out the CRT was dead (probably the flyback transformer from what I read online) so it works great w/o the internal monitor connected.
So basically, I know this other one can be a solid machine, but something like the Marathon 1U case is $399 and if I'm not using the CRT, there's no point in it taking up so much space, ya dig?
Also, something that would be really, REALLY sweet would be to take my LCD-less TiBook 667 and get it and a screen into the iMac somehow, or so something with the TiBook and the iMac somehow...right now the powerbook is propped up on its side on my desk hooked to a 17" CRT and with an external kb and mouse that I use, so that's something else I could work with on this...
So basically, what should I do with these thigns (the half-dead bondi and TiBook, the working one is off limits for now)? WIthin reason, I'm looking for some inspiration here...

The TIBook would make for great hack material. Just find a suitable case (I use that term pretty loosely) that would fit the logic board & drives, mount it up, and you're in business. With something like that you could probably use an old LC case, which would be a great form factor because it could sit under your monitor. A simpler mod might be to keep the original case then somehow attach the lid to cover the top of the machine to make it look like a titanium slab. Then build a couple of "feet" to stand it up next to your monitor.
As for the bondi iMac, there are plenty of instructions available for case mods for them. Just google for imac atx conversion and take your pick. One thing I've always wanted to try is to replace the CRT with an LCD. The only sloppy part with that is that the LCD is flat and leaves a gap between the screen & case.

Are they good screens? Are they for sale. I have a TiBook 400mhz with a cracked LCD and haven't found a replacement screen for it.

You need to make sure its a screen for a 400-500 Ti. The 550 and up have different LCD's.
If your interested in parting with that, I need a Ti motherboard. I have 5 Ti's here, but not one working motherboard (all are 400-500 models).
No, the 400/500 use the same LCD as the 550/667 'Books. The break-point is at the next gen DVI 'Books which have the higher rez 1280x screens.

hmm.. I could have sworn the connector itself was different. But I am going off a year odl memory from when I parted out a whole pile of 400-667DVI powerbooks.

ahh, good info there.
as far as the connectors and displays: these are 1152x displays, but will work with any titanuim powerbook. the connectors are the same. the reverse is also true, FYI, the image looks funny on boot using a 1280 with a pre-dvi ti, but after the OS loads, its OK.
the displays are, as far as i know, fine, one was purchased on eBay and it is supposed to work, the other was from a friend who fried a 500's mobo, and it worked lasy anyone knew. they are both for sale, you can email me at ianmeyer@gmail.com if you're interested.
the powerslab is also possibly for sale, but i'd need to get enough from the displays and slab to pay for an iBook (preferably a new 12" low end model, or a fairly recent used, G3 is OK)

just a note, i think the lcd driver on the mobo is dead, so keep that in mind. its really best for a desktop or server use

So you're saying if you use a 1280x854 display on a pre-dvi powerbook, once it boots, it works in 1280x854 ok? or it works in 1152x768 ok?
...but it won't drive a probably-good LCD.
i have no reason to think either of these LCDs shouldn't work, but they don't, plain grey screen is all it shows
