And...?
Don't be too confused, khaibitgfx's specialty is re-creating iconic vintage media in new high quality formats.
The promo at the top of the thread is beautiful enough that an enthusiast might print it out and hang it above his computer. Previously, the most widely distributed version of it was this ugly black-and-white scan...which is barely legible in places!

See his Apple II Media Vault for more examples.
Great "re-mastering" of that ad.
I have that monitor. It's one of the best composite monochrome monitors out there.
The photo is one of many that came from Sather, all BW, had to be colorized.

That is a hilarous picture! LOL
I gotta pace myself, again.
I forgot what I wanted to say...
I had one of those Zenith monitors back in the day, it worked pretty well. I had both it and a BMC composite color hooked up to a //e (a ][+ before the //e) so I could see color and actually have readable 80 column text on the monocrhome. I bought both of those monitors used so two monitors still ended up costing a lot less than what a decent RGB monitor did back in those days.
Brilliant colorization job, if you didn't say so I'd swear that was an original color photo.
AI and Photoshop can do wonders, AI did the heavy lifting, I had to clean up any mistakes.
Keep in mind that I tried to colorize this photo many many times with every AI thing going, the results were all bad, only recent developments in AI did it improve, to colorize this image or any image the hard way would be very tedious procedure.
The biggest mistake people make and assume with AI is that you press a button a genie pops out, no, however if it can do any percentage of the work, is that not better than nothing at all, think of it as another tool in the toolbox.
I recreated 25 of the illustrations from the book, and no AI was used, it was all done in Adobe Illustrator, not overly complex, just tedious and time consuming.
Apparently HP and Autodesk are working on something to convert old schematics and technical drawing into modern illustrations with AI, no idea how that's going.
I tried several AI things to do the work, the quality was total crap.
Despite being cleaned up, there are some "tells", like the elf ears. The hands are also not quite right (as ever with these sort of tools).
I never noticed his ear being kinda pointy, going to compare it to my b/w original, not overly hard to fix if its incorrect.
The bw original was not the best, out of focus, soft, washed out, bad everything basically.
There is also the fact that coloring a photo even before AI was never perfect, with AI references are needed for any form of quality output, you can be sure there are none of Sather in its database, so then it becomes a a crap shoot.
Trust me compared to what I had to work with, it's a Rembrandt.
You speak in riddles white man!
Looks like JSON to me.
sorry, the "reply & quote all" inserted a bunch of json.
I am trying to say I like your work.
This is the original, that was used pointy ear even, not the best. There are several other images, this seems to be the best, reborn in to some degree of satisfaction in color.
Sather Photo.jpg
My knowledge of Json or ever Jason is severely limited...
This is a very early version of coloring, quite bad. Everything beyond the borders of this photo had to be created from nothing.
