Share Net Connection (Airport-Ethernet)

Hi,

I have an eMac and an old iMac connected to a router with ethernet, and an iBook connected with airport, so they are all in the same network.
But i also have a Performa 6200 with Mac OS 8.6 in a room where I can't take an ethernet cable, and I'd like to integrate it into the network plugging it into the iBook (it has MacOS 10.3.7), but i can't manage to do it.

When I plug in the ethernet cable, the performa sees the iBook with the chooser, but it doesn't see any of the other macs, and it can't connect to the internet, even if i've told the ibook to share the internet connection in the sharing pref pane.

What must I do?

Are you sure it's trying to s

Are you sure it's trying to share the AirPort connection over the ethernet, and not viceversa?

uhhhh....

The reason it can't see the other macs, is because 8.6 and lower doesn't talk with OS X. To do that you would need to upgrade to 9.0/9.1

Hmmm...

I could've thought... Oh, Never Mind... But it is nice that I now know that 8.6 will talk w/ OS X.
Try this:
x Ethernet
x Airport
[] Modem
[] Firewire

*x's* mean enabled
*[]'s* mean disabled

Make sure that the ethernet is the top on the list in the network panel.
Also, make sure the TCP/IP is using DHCP on the Perf. 6200 And the iBook
see if that works..

BTW, I have had trouble getting it to work too. But, this seems to work for me. Also use a Crossover cable.

i can do file sharing

i can do file sharing connecting to the 8.6 machine with the classic environment's chooser (using 10.3), but what i wanted to do is have the performa in the network so it can access the internet and the other computers of the network, not just the ibook that's plugged into it
