Profile HD on Apple II?

Does anyone know if there is a controller card that would be compatible for the Apple Profile HD for a II+ or //e?

Yes there is

I sold mine so I don't have one for sale but they come up for sale on ebay every once in a while. Why not just get a CFFA card? They work much better and are much more reliable than the profile drives.

True...

I just picked up one of these profile drives, not really knowing what it was at the time. Just thought it would be nice to use it since I've got it AND not to mention its aesthetically pretty sweet. Maybe I'll just use it as a monitor stand until I figure it out. Smile

ProFile

The ProFile uses an old-fashioned parallel port interface to hook up to its host. The 25-pin connector is parallel (like old Apple II and PC printers), not SCSI. This hard drive was designed for the Apple III and the Lisa, both of which had parallel ports but no SCSI. In theory, you can definitely hook up the ProFile to an Apple II without blowing circuits, as long as you plug it in to the right kind of interface, but as for actual functionality, I`m not sure if the driver or special ProDOS version or whatever exists. On the other hand, maybe that`s one of the reasons ProDOS was called what it was - maybe the driver is built-in. Do a Google search for "ProDOS ProFile" (without the quotes) and see what you get.

Apple II ProFile controller card

You'd need one of the fairly scarce Apple II ProFile controller cards. Ocasionally one shows up on eBay. The other cactor is that you need the card that matches your Profiles size, though I seem to recall hearing that a 5mb controller will work with a 10mb drive but you won't be able to see half the druve.
