My new WallStreet!

I finally got a G3! Some specs:
WallStreet Rev II
233MHz with 512 cache
14.1" screen
2 hour battery
20X CD ROM
OS 9.2.2
192MB of RAM
4 gig HD

Very nice machine! Plastic is in good condition and so is the rubber. The apple even glows! Very cool. The hinges are good too.

I runs like new too! I just u

I runs like new too! I just upgraded to it from a 1400c and this laptop is huge! It's pretty thin compared to my previous 'Books. The next 'Book I get will be a Lombard. If I get another PowerBook that is. This PowerBook has style. :coolmac:

OS X?

Is it a good idea to install OS X on this PowerBook? It has plenty RAM but do I need a bigger HD?

Won't kill it

I've got OS X on FractalBook and it works fine, but its also got 256MB of RAM and an 8Gb hard drive. OTOH you can OS X in 4Gbs just do a custom install and drop the extra languages and anything else you don't need. That will leave you a good deal more room for Apps and docs.

OS X cheap?

Cool. I love X. I saw it at the Apple store and loved it. Anyone know where I can get OS X 10.3 cheap? :macos:

Not supported

10.3 isn't offically supported on the Wallstreets. I've seen reports that XPF gets 10.3 on to them fairly well but you'd probably be better off finding a copy of 10.2. To do that look around the back pages of MacWorld or MacAddict.

hell no

don't do this. x is sluggish like non-other on the wallstreet. also the video card messes up in X. u put the wallstreet to sleep, wake it up, and theres no way to get the backlight back on without a restart. later versions of X don't support this laptop and would slow it further. i switched mine from X back to 9 and it runs without much problem now. i just have bugs in software that i got from a disk in a mac upgrade book.

the logo glows on the wallstreet? it doesn't on mine. but its the best g3 i've ever used. the guy i got it from ordered a modem, dvd kit, and 13 in active matrix drive with the other hardware. he threw out the dvd kit since it didnt work, but the 20x cd drive works just fine.
