My 12" iBook screen just freaked out and the machine died. Applying pressure to the case makes the pattern change. Crappola.

do you know what on it broke? Would a mobo replacement fix it or was it a video issue or what? Any idea? Are you going to be able to fix it?

The solder on the ATI chip is cracked. I'm trying to get a new MLB from work. Probably next week.

Whew! I was able to coax it into target disk mode and clone the drive over firewire (display is now totally dead and machine is incredibly sensitive to movement)

The same thing happened to my iBook last year. It was freaky, the screen flashed and I noticed that tapping on the motherboard caused the video to jump or flash.
I had to shell out for a new board.
You _do_ know about the iBook logic board repair extension program?
