CC died on me - or did it?

On turning on the main switch at the back of the CC the machine makes its usual dull sound ... but it will not power up using the power key on the keyboard. This happened recently, but (for inexplicable reasons) it came on after a few tries. But no luck this time.
Is there a workaround to actually switching the CC on, i.e. getting it to power up? Any secret keystroke combination?
I've checked the fuse inside the machine - it's okay.

try another keyboard

if you have one. Maybe the cable or adb connector is bad.

I have tried both another keyboard and a different cable - no luck, though ...

PRAM battery?

Dunno if it affects the CC, but i find that quite a lot of macs don't boot with a dead PRAM battery, Definatly if it's a box shaped (4.5v) one with a lead. I dunno about the CC, but i'd imagine it's a normal 3.6v (1/2 AA) one as it's basically an LCII.

I've had the PRAM battery checked, and it's OK, running on full steam. The problem, however, persits.

Update 2 days later: Hey,

Update 2 days later:

Hey, this is really weird: the following procedure works: I pull out the logic board, the switch on the machine using the power switch at the back. The fan and HD start operating, then I quickly slip the locic board back in and BINGO: my system boots up perfectly with absolutely no signs of trouble.

This "workaround" is a bit tiresome in the long run. Does anyone have an idea to which underlying problem my workaround could point?

Unless you have a good motiva

Unless you have a good motivation ot turn off the switch on the back, it should really be left on. Then you just soft power up/down from the keyboard. Try leaving the main switch on and seeing if it powers up a day or two later.

Same problem, please HELP!!

Hi everybody, and please escuse my poor english (I'm from Chile).

I'm having exactly the same problem described here. My CC won't boot, but If I remove the logic board, turn it on, and pull the board, my CC boot without problem (I did that after reading this topic... of course). Obviously is not the idea, so there must be a solution. Please help, and regards to everybody.

Am I understanding you correctly? You have a CC that will boot fine without a logic board?

This I gotta see...

Please post pics...

What he means is, a CC that h

What he means is, a CC that has the power switch turned on (the one on the back) and you pull the logic board out (again, while the switch is set on 'on') the CC will power up - no, it won't boot from disk or anything, but the fan will cut on and the tube will charge up...
