se/30 cpu upgrade

My SE/30 could use a faster CPU. I talked to MicroMac and the DIIMO DOSE30 card is no longer available and there is not enough interest at this time to make more. My SE/30 has an Asante ethernet card so I'd like something that still allows me to use the PDS slot for the Asante.

Does anyone have an upgrade for sale or know where I can get one?

I know there were versions of

I know there were versions of the SE/30 with both soldered and socketed CPUs. Which is yours? It'll make a difference on what you can do with it. BTW: Check out the SE/30 upgrade pages on Gamba. W/ the right adapters you can use the PDS slot for both the CPU card and the Ethernet card.

I guess I better look.

I think it's socketed, but I better take a look. It's not surface mounted like the Mac Classic or IIci, but it could still be soldered I guess.

'040?

The PDS slot accepted '030 and '040 CPU upgrades, AFAIK the fastest available was the 40MHz 68040 Daystar IIci-type jobbie using a Daystar SE/30 adapter. The adapter had a second PDS slot allowing one to use another PDS card at the same time.

But . . . that adapter is nowadays impossible to find for an affordable price . . . snif, snif . . .
