The best 'security by obscurity' media?

I'm looking at data storage things, and I think I would like to have a system of obscure media to back things up to. I know the whole security by obscurity thing is really daft, but the contents would be encrypted. The obscure media would just be another barrier. Does anyone have any good ideas as to what would work? Decent storage size is a factor. Basicly, I'm looking for the most off-the-wall storage there is out there.

try using svhs

there is a program that allows you to use a camera tape that is in a fw video camera, which means you would have to have a fw camera to access it

EDIT: that, or miles and miiiillleeessss of paper tape

Steganography or 5.25" Floppies

My personal fave is to embed files within images or audio files. I prefer Staganos or outguess.

Other than that, try 5.25" floppies. Most likely no one will remember them, but the off chance they do remember them, they will surely have a fun time finding a drive to read them with. Smile

Orb cartridges have a decent

Orb cartridges have a decent capacity and are pretty uncommon.

An Orb drive is a good though

An Orb drive is a good thought. So far, I've been using a USB Superdisk Drive that came with my iMac. Taking it apart was an informative experience, but it's not very practical.

That's what I have now. They're actually a magneto-optical drive with a laptop IDE interface.

How about Jaz 1GB cartridges, or even better the Bournelli drives?

I've got my old original Bour

I've got my old original Bournelli drives in the lab. Dual 10mb removable carts, baby! Gave the built-in 10MB drive in the XT quite a boost. The 286 card doesn't hurt either.

do this...

1. compress your files to a .dmg
2. use a password of "********" (eight stars) to protect the file - its a real head-scratcher when trying to hack with most tools as you cannot tell when you have gotten it Wink
3. rename the extension to .txt
4. send the file as a fax to another computer, or an answering machine
5. capture the faxed audio and save it as an mp3
6. burn the mp3 file to a cd
7. label the cd as "Barry Manilow - Greatest Hits Volume 3" (actually a really good album, one of his best)
8. deposit the cd somewhere obscure, like in the same case as you latest copy of AOL software that gets sent every week offering 1406 free hours of time (they usually make nice coasters and the cases are handy as well)
