Ok I have a question and cant find the answer so i thouught I woulld ask it here..
If I take a 15 inch LCD monitor can I replace the 15 inch LCD with one of a diffrent size...
I have a friend that works at a supplier and can get me a 32 inch LCD (no back light nothing else but just the LCD sreen its self) could I get the inner workings of the 15 inch screen be wired to run the 32 inch screen?
I know I would need to make a case and find a way to back light it. But will the hardware from a 15 inch screen run a 32 inch screen...
Any info would be great...
No
See holy grail.
I am going to go with the dissenting option of a firm possibly. It will be a lot of work though, not a simple as plugging it in.
For one the backlight tubes will be way too short and likely not have enough of them. You might be able to reuse the inverters.
You may be able to reuse the digital board depending on the capabilities of its controller. I would say that you will likely end up having to reflash its firmware. It is unlikely that the cabling will be correct so you will need new cables.
Like reusing a Laptop LCD it is possible but it will require lots of work and money.
Just a WAG but I would say that if you have correct controller board you should be able to get the backlights, housing and cabling for about $300. If you need to source another controller I would allow an additional $300 for that. At my skill level I would allow about 100 hours of time for research, assembly and debugging.
As for any real useful information I say start here.
