Straight dope...
I'm looking for the straight dope on some crooked goods. I picked up a small handful of Apple SIMM/DIMM units and have been franticly searching the Internet in an effort to determine what they are.
Some of them appear to be ROM modules, some VRAM modules, and some appear to be Cache modules. Exactly what they are and what they're for are answers that presently elude me.
I will list the part numbers, brief descriptions, and what I've been able to find so far, below. If anybody has any further information that they could provide, I'd very much appreciate it.
Part number: 820-0482-A
Part Description: SIMM like module with 64 pins. Module has four chips and each chip has a white label the reads: "341S1081 U4 (C) 83-93 Apple W?" The white print at the bottom of the module reads: 820-0482-A Apple Computer Inc. PCB 2 MEG SIMM (C) 1993"
The module is rectangular in shape and has a rather large square notch in one corner that is about one inch square.
Google search results: One Hit - Japanese - "My Sweet Quadra"
I have no idea what these modules are or what they are for. The white lettering at the bottom of the module would indicate that it is either a 2MB RAM or ROM SIMM. Google was not helpful in ascertaining what this module is; it produced one hit that was in Japanese.

Part Number: AP2761-04
Description SIMM-like module with 120 pins and four chips. White lettering on the module reads "Apple Computer, Inc. AP2761-04 (C) 1996". There is a small white sticker on the back that reads "333-1083 MBAPD3331083G2 9721"
Google search results: Several hits, none in English. Some english text in Google search results indicate that these VRAM SIMMs for PowerMac 4400.
If anybody could confirm that these modules are, in fact, VRAM modules for a PM4400, I'd appreciate it very much. Also, if these are VRAM modules for PM4400, does anyone know if these can be used in any other Macs?

I have a few more of these module thingy's too, but I'm gonna do my own homework on the others before I burden you fine folks with my questions.
Thanks,
William

Hey,
This SIMM is for an 840AV. The notch allows it only to be placed in the correct receptor. It isn't RAM. I'm recovering from a long night and not all of my pram is still available but I vaguely remember it being a ROM SIMM but I'm not signing anything to that effect.
HTH,
William
