I am going to do a case mod to my 15in Aluminum Powerbook, but need to know how much the case will break apart. I am looking into painting the case etc but just want to make sure I can take it fully apart so that I wont have to tape anything off when I goto paint it. Also does anyone know the actually composition of the Aluminum case itself? As in if I bake on the paint what temp is safe and what is not, as I dont want to melt/burn the case. Thanks for the input.

You WILL need to source a service manual. It's rather difficult to pull apart, and needs to be done in exactly the right order. I'd send you one myself but don't really want to risk it(legal issues).
You can strip it right down to the bare case, if that's what you're asking. Takes a while, though.
doh... got any idea where I can pick up this manual? And yeah I want to take it down to nothing but the bar metal top lid and the bottom side as well I am planning on baking it so I need to have it as bare as possible for me to do what I want to do. Thanks.

Is this what you're looking for?
I have looked through that before, I assume that will work just fine. Just didn't know if the actual real manual from apple would have more detail. Has anyone here actually taken theirs apart enough where its just the case and then the insides? And any idea on how long it will take to take apart? There are 2 reasons for me doing this, 1 my screen is reallly wobbly and loose, the other = I want to paint the case. Anyone know of a fix for a loose screen while I am at it?
Gamba has the actual Apple service manual:
