I want to put 512mb of ram in my iBook g3 and I wonder if I could put any pc133 sdram sodimm 144pin chip, like IBM one or I stuck to put mac specific ram.

RAM for modern Macs is not Mac specific, it is the same stuff used for any computer (although this hasn't always been the case). The G3 iBooks take PC100 SODIMMs, but PC133 should work with out any problems (YMMV of course). The only thing to watch out for is if your iBook is one of the coloured "clam shell" models then it can only take a 256MB chip, while later all white "dual USB" models can take a 512MB chip.

All iBooks can use 512MB modules, I had one in my wife's 400MHz Blueberry for awhile 'til I needed it back for a different 'project'. Still works decently though under 10.3.x with just 288MBs now.

Heh, it probably does, but Apple's official specs state 256MB as the max, so that was what I was going by.
However often Apple's estimate is based on the biggest RAM modules available at the time so larger modules often work too. I haven't seen 1GB non-DDR DIMMs however, so 512MB is likely the max you will be able to add.

Don't cheap out on the RAM, though. Get decent quality PC RAM (Kingston, Micron and the like) and not the cheaper alternatives (AzenRAM comes to mind). I've had nothing but problems with AzenRAM in Mac laptops.
